I’m currently in the research-in-progress stage of a new monograph.
It is titled Spiritual Matters from the Rochester Rappings to the Ouija Board and is under contract with the University of North Carolina Press. It’ll focus on Spiritualists and their “stuff.”
Though it’s in the research in progress stage, you can play around with a tiny bit of the project through interacting with my choose-your-own adventure seance story that I made at the Digital Humanities Summer Institute at the University of Victoria in 2019. Click here to play!
On a much more serious note, the COVID-19 pandemic has certainly shaped my own thinking about Spiritualism. You can read a bit about there here in a short piece, “Spiritualism, COVID, and Me.”
I’m grateful for generous funding support for this project from the Lily Endowment and Louisville Institute, the American Council of Learned Societies, the American Academy of Religion, and the American Philosophical Society.
